If you are going to shoot video on your phone, PLEASE hold the dad-gum thing horizontally, like it’s supposed to be.
Really, no kidding, cell phones are designed to be held horizontally for video…
If God had intended you to shoot video on your phone while holding it vertically, he would have made video monitors vertical.
Phones are designed to shoot video HORIZONTALLY. Hold your phone sideways and you can use the entire resolution of your camera instead of just 1/3rd of it, and it won’t be annoying as heck to watch.
Tips!
OK, now that we have that out of the way, here are a few other tips to make your video better.
- Use a tripod. Cell phone holders & tripods cost under $20. A lot of preppers make videos showing a project they are working on, or showing how to make/do something, and the videos are vomit-inducing trainwrecks simply because the phone is giggling the whole time.
- Before shooting, take a microfiber cloth (clean cotton will do in a pinch) and clean off your cell phone’s lens. You will get a lot better quality out of it than if you just leave it with a year’s worth of fingerprints and pocket lint on the lens… I promise.
- Slow movements good, fast movements bad.
That’s a wrap!
There are a ton of other tips, but this is a prepping blog not a “how do I make videos” blog.
Still, turning it sideways, keeping it steady and cleaning your lens will really help the videos that you make look a whole lot better, and make it a LOT easier for grandma to watch on her computer.
You gotta look out for grandma first and foremost, you owe her for all those cookies she baked for you when you were little.
Just sayin.
