Covid Prepper’s Man Cave? Yes!

How to Create the Ultimate Covid Prepper’s Man Cave

If you have been following the news lately and reading about the devastation millions are facing from the global pandemic, you can’t help but feel that we could be living in a near-apocalyptic era.

On the medical side, hundreds of thousands of people are fighting for their lives in hospital beds while on the economic side, millions have lost their jobs and are struggling to source vital supplies like food and toilet paper, which seem to be rapidly disappearing from store shelves.

Whether you’ve been a prepper for years or you’re new to the prepper lifestyle, now is the time to ensure that you have a safe place to live out the rest of your life if worse comes to worst. But, while safety needs to come first, you also must ensure that your home will be enjoyable to live in. Here’s how to create a prepper paradise that has the fun and exciting feel of a man cave but still provides the safety you need.

Make it look good

When you mention a prepper home, the picture that comes to most people’s minds is an ugly space with just the items needed to sustain life with no design elements included. While this may be the case for some prepper dwellings, it doesn’t have to be the case for your man cave.

You don’t have to give up aesthetics to create a megalith of survival that you don’t enjoy being in. In fact, studies have shown that home design matters a lot when it comes to home value, and that people are happier when living in spaces with superior aesthetics.

As such, you want to take your time to design a space that not only provides protection, but also looks good both on the exterior and in the interior.

Whether you’re building your prepper’s man cave from scratch or converting an existing space, you can work with professional designers to help you make more informed design decisions.

For example, the colors you choose can impact the overall feel of the space; vibrant shades like yellow and orange boost creativity and inspire relaxation, while dark hues like purple can evoke a sense of comfort when applied in appropriate spaces. The lighting also impacts the overall ambiance of the space, so be sure to have enough natural light sources as you can so that you don’t have to worry about needing electricity.

Make it feel like home

It can be hard to make your prepper’s man cave feel like home, especially if it’s underground or doesn’t have many windows. But, with a few improvements, you can create a space that makes you feel like you’re at home every time you step in.

You can start by incorporating some design features from your home into your man cave, such as the types of finishings, colors, and furnishings. If it’s impossible to have a source of natural light, you can simulate it using adjustable LEDs or paint light murals on the walls to make it look like outdoors.

Another thing you can do if you have a lot of space to work with is to create separate spaces within your man cave with different themes, simulating different rooms in a typical home. For example, you can have different spaces for reading, smoking, cooking, and relaxing, each with appropriate design features to reflect the themes.

Have entertainment options

One thing we have learned from the few weeks we’ve been practicing social distancing is that it can get boring pretty fast, even when we still have TV, internet, movies, and other forms of modern entertainment to keep us busy.

Now, think of what would happen if you had to stay in your prepper man cave for months or even years. If you want your prepper home to live up to the standards of a man cave, you’ll need to include a lot of entertainment options for when you inevitably get bored. You can start by stocking up on movies, music, and video games to keep yourself entertained assuming there will be electricity available.

Without electricity, other things that can keep you entertained include books, board games, comic books, puzzles, cards, and dice.

There’s no telling how close or far we are from the end times. Whether you are worried about a virus, human conflict, natural disasters, or zombie apocalypse changing life as we know it forever, you must take steps to protect your physical, emotional, and economic well-being by building a prepper’s man cave that meets all your needs.
