It’s spring, time for spring cleaning! Please pardon our mess as we work on bringing some of our original content up to the current standard, work on search engine optimization and generally make things look better here at 3BY.
When I first started 3BY, many of the early articles were gun reviews. I had written a lot of these reviews previous to starting this website, so they were “ready at hand” when I needed to publish a new article.
Unfortunately, like many new projects, I really didn’t know what I was doing, so many of them were formatted very poorly. I’ve always been meaning to go back and fix that, but I never have until the last week or so.
And then… there was the “Photobucket Problem”. Perhaps I should say the “Photobucket Fiasco”. My prepping pictures had been hosted, for years, on Photobucket. Back in July, they randomly changed their terms of service and went from a free ad-supported hosting site to charging $399. Overnight. Free to 4 bills. BOOM.
It turned out to be an even bigger disaster for Photobucket than it was for those of us who used their services. That $399 has dropped to “a couple of bucks a month”, and I’m surprised the company is still in business.
I, of course, would not be extorted.
We couldn’t’ even download our pictures back without paying what amounts to be extortion, so many of my gun review photos just “went away”.
A perfect example is this “article” about our Tavor X95 podcast, 3BY Prepping Podcast Episode 2. Originally when I wrote it, the article just basically said “We did a podcast on the Tavor X95, click HERE” and nothing else. Google & other search engines didn’t like it, and readers didn’t like it either.
So… I’ve fixed it.
